External Flow with Leak Closure Exercise 3—Identifying and Closing Leakages
To close leakage, the leakage path needs to be identified. Leak Closure (SEALS) operation is used for this purpose:
1. From the Operations overflow menu, click Leak Closure (SEALS). The Leak Closure (SEALS) tab appears.
2. Click Inside. Select Points as Inside Definition.
3. Click button to add a Monitor Point. The Point Properties dialog box appears. Specify the following values to create a Point inside the trailer.
Position— 1, 2, 0 meters
4. Click OK. Point 01 is added under Inside Definition.
5. Click Find Leakage to identify the leaks between trailer and external fluid regions. The fluid region inside the trailer is shown in red.
6. In the Display drop-down, select Leaks to show the leakage holes with blue outline.
7. Under Position, specify 0.5.
8. Click Close Leakage to split the fluid volume into two parts.
9. Under Domains > Additional Domains in the Flow Analysis tree, the volume WHOLE_MESH_1 is the external fluid volume.
10. Under Results > Derived Surfaces in the Flow Analysis tree, select Section 01 to view the section. The leaked fluid volume in the trailer is now removed from mesh.
