Sheetmetal Reported Parameters
The following Sheetmetal read-only parameters can be added to Sheetmetal bodies. These parameters provide information associated with the manufacturing of the design model. The values of the parameters are calculated by the flat pattern flat state, even when the flat pattern of the body is in a different state. The value of these parameters is zero when the following conditions occur:
There is no flat pattern feature that flattens the body.
The flat pattern was deleted.
The flat pattern feature cannot be regenerated successfully.
The flat pattern does not flatten all geometry.
Overlapping geometry was detected.
There is more than one volume in the body.
The table below lists the Sheetmetal reported parameters and descriptions.
Parameter
Type
Description
PTC_SMT_BOUNDING_BOX_WIDTH
Real number
Width of the bounding box, as it appears in the Flat Pattern Preview dialog box.
PTC_SMT_BOUNDING_BOX_LENGTH
Real number
Length of the bounding box, as it appears in the Flat Pattern Preview dialog box.
PTC_SMT_BOUNDING_BOX_AREA
Real number
The calculated area of the bounding box.
PTC_SMT_FLAT_INNER_PERIMETER
Real number
The calculated value of the perimeter of all cutouts of the flat pattern of the body.
PTC_SMT_FLAT_OUTER_PERIMETER
Real number
The calculated value of the outer perimeter of the flat pattern of the body.
PTC_SMT_FLAT_SURFACE_AREA
Real number
The surface area of the flat body.
PTC_SMT_NUMBER_OF_BENDS
Integer
The number of bends in the body.
PTC_SMT_NUMBER_OF_FORMS
Integer
The number of recognized forms in the body.
PTC_SMT_NUMBER_OF_CUTOUTS
Integer
The number of cuts that remove material.
Creating Sheetmetal Reported Parameters
To automatically create Sheetmetal reported parameters for new Sheetmetal bodies, including bodies converted to Sheetmetal, follow these steps.
1. Click File > Options. The Creo Parametric Options dialog box opens.
2. Click Sheetmetal, under Sheetmetal Parameters click to select the Create reported parameters check box. Alternatively, set the smt_reported_params_creation configuration option to yes.
For legacy sheet metal bodies, or when reported parameters are not created automatically, you can create reported parameters in one of the following ways:
Select a body, right-click, and select Preferences. The Sheetmetal Preferences dialog box opens. Click Create reported parameters. Sheetmetal reported parameters are created for the body.
Select a flat pattern feature in the Model Tree, right-click, and select Reported Parameters > Create. Sheetmetal reported parameters are created for the body.
Select the Flat Pattern Manager feature in the Model Tree, right-click, and select Reported Parameters > Create. Sheetmetal reported parameters are created for all bodies that have a flat pattern feature.
Removing Sheetmetal Reported Parameters
Sheetmetal reported parameters are removed in one of the following ways:
Select a body, right-click, and select Preferences. The Sheetmetal Preferences dialog box opens. Click Remove reported parameters. Sheetmetal reported parameters are removed from the body.
Select a flat pattern feature in the Model Tree, right-click, and select Reported Parameters > Remove. Sheetmetal reported parameters are removed from the body.
Select the Flat Pattern Manager feature in the Model Tree, right-click, and select Reported Parameters > Remove. Sheetmetal reported parameters are removed from all bodies that have reported parameters.
When you convert a sheet metal part to a solid part, all Sheetmetal reported parameters are removed from all sheet metal bodies in the part.
Viewing the Sheetmetal Reported Parameters
You can view the Sheetmetal reported parameters in the Parameters dialog box.
1. Select one or more bodies in the Model Tree, right-click, and select Parameters. The Parameters dialog box opens.
2. Click the arrow next to Main and select Sheetmetal reported parameters from the list. The Sheetmetal parameters display in the parameter list.
