To Connect Cooling Channels
1. On the
Mold or
Cast tab, click the arrow next to
Water Line, and then select
Channel Connect. The
Channel Connect tab opens.
Alternatively, you can open the Channel Connect tab using one of the following methods:
◦ To create connecting channels in a part, activate the part and then click one of the following:
▪ On the Mold or Cast tab, click > .
◦ To create conformal cooling channels in the Part mode, open a part and click > > .
2. On the References tab, select the following options:
◦ Connections—Select Connection 1. To create additional connections, select New connection and then define the corresponding connection references for the new connection.
◦ Connection References—Select the connecting channel references.
▪ Channel 1—Select the cooling channel where the connection must start. Also, specify the location in the Location field. Alternatively, use the dragger in the graphics window to position the location.
To flip the channel end, click

. Alternatively, click the corresponding arrow in the graphics window to flip the channel end.
▪ Channel 2—Select the cooling channel to connect. Also, specify the location in the Location field. Alternatively, use the dragger to position the location on channel 2.
To flip the channel end, click

. Alternatively, click the corresponding arrow in the graphics window to flip the channel end.
| • If you preselect one or two channels before clicking Channel Connect, the system considers the first selected channel for channel 1 reference and the second selected channel for channel 2 reference. • Selection of channels across bodies is not supported. The selected connecting channels must belong to a single body. |
◦ Turn radius—Enter the turn radius value to smooth the connection.
3. Optionally, select the section profile for the cooling channel connection in the Section Profile list.
◦ Channel 1 (default)—Select the section of channel 1 for the connection.
◦ Channel 2—Select the section of channel 2 for the connection.
◦ Circular—Select the circular section for the connection. Also, enter the diameter for the circular section.
4. Optionally, select the trajectory for the cooling channel connection in the Trajectory list.

Line (default)—Create a linear connection between the selected cooling channels.
◦
Arc—Create an arc connection between the selected cooling channels.
◦
Spline—Create a spline-path connection between the selected cooling channels.
5. On the Properties tab, optionally enter a custom name for the feature.
6. Select one of the following options to complete the sequence:
◦ Click

to save the changes.
◦ Click

to pause the process and use one of the asynchronous tools. Click

to resume.
◦ Click

to cancel the changes.
