About Cabling Data Tool
The Cabling Data Tool allows you to manage cabling logical data and connectors designations. The tool provides connector designation and facilitates entry ports management for connectors. The tool also allows you to work with the cabling data without a retrieved harness and provides you full control over the cabling data model.
To manage cabling data, you must first create Cabling Data Object or add an existing Cabling Data Object to your harness. The Cabling Data Tool manages information within the Cabling Data Object.
To create a new Cabling Data Object, do the following:
1. Click Cabling Data in the Cabling Data & Components ribbon group. The Create Cabling Data dialog box opens.
2. Enter the name in the File name box.
3. (Optional) Enter the common name for the cabling data in the Common name box.
4. Click Create to create cabling data object in the current session or click Create & Add to create and add the cabling data object to the active model. The Cabling Tool dialog box opens.
To add an existing Cabling Data Object, do the following:
1. Click Add Cabling Data from the Cabling Data dropdown list.
2. Select the desired cabling data object and click Open.
3. Click Cabling Data in the Cabling Data & Components ribbon group. The Cabling Tool dialog box opens.
Opening or modifying a Cabling Data Object launches the Cabling Tool dialog.
*
If no Cabling Data Object exists, certain commands will trigger a workflow prompting you to create a new one..
Use the following buttons to perform various operations in the Cabling Tool dialog box:
Button
Description
Designates an assembly component as a connector.
Selects columns to display in the designation table.
Imports logical data into the Cabling Data model.
Automatically designates assembly components as connectors.
Permits mismatch between the names of cabling components and the corresponding logical model names from the logical data.
Updates the cabling assembly using the imported logical data.
Identifies and evaluates the differences between the imported logical data and the designated data within a cabling assembly.
Selects a reference model in the collector. The selected reference model is the top-level reference path for all harness designations. It enables external connectors to be designated outside the harness assembly.
Export Designation Table
Exports the designation table to a .csv file.
Export Logical Data
Exports logical data.
Extract Logical Data
Extracts the legacy cabling data embedded in the assembly.
*
This command is available only if legacy data is found and for empty cabling data models.
Clear Logical Data
Removes all imported logical data from a cabling data model, does not impact existing designations.
Strip Table
Defines which wire strip information is automatically assigned to wires.
Terminator Table
Defines the criteria for a terminator to be match to a particular pin.
The Cabling Data Tool also provides the following commands to perform common operations from the list:
Commands
Description
New
Creates a new and empty cabling data model on disk.
Open
Opens another cabling data model from a disk.
Save
Saves the cabling data to a disk.
Save a Copy
Saves a copy of the cabling data cable to a disk.
Export Designation Table
Exports the designation table to a .csv file.
Rename
Renames the cabling data model.
