Solidifying Plies
Solidifying plies is the creation of solid geometry from laminate objects. You can create only one solidify plies feature in a composite feature. The feature is updated automatically when the laminate is updated.
When solidified, the system generated composite material is assigned to the generated body.
Optionally, you can generate an IML quilt. The generated IML quilt consists of all the surfaces; however, the side of the IML quilt facing the layup surface is open.
Solidify plies as follows:
1. Click
Solidify Plies. The
Solidify Plies dialog box opens.
2. Optionally, specify the following settings:
a. Select Create IML surface to create a quilt that consists of all the surfaces keeping the side of the quilt facing the layup surface open.
b. Select Add drop-off geometry to create additional surfaces for smooth transition over the drop-off portions. Clear the check box to generate the solid geometry without applying the drop-off offsets, even if the drop-off is defined.
c. Select Keep unattached drop-offs as quilts to keep the drop-off surfaces that cannot be merged as quilts. This check box is available only when you select Add drop-off geometry.
3. Click OK.
