To Work With Simplified Representations
In an open assembly, click

. The
View Manager dialog box opens to the
Simp Rep tab. You can perform one or several of the following actions.
Change the Properties of a Simplified Representation
1. Select a simplified representation name and click Properties.
2. Make changes to the simplified representation, click List, and then click > .
Activate a Simplified Representation
• Double-click a simplified representation, or right-click and choose Activate from the shortcut menu.
• To activate a user-defined representation in Automatic mode, right-click the name of the simplified representation and select Activate as Automatic from the shortcut menu.
• You can set Automatic mode as the default simplified representation activation method. To do this, click > .
| • When viewing a user-defined simplified representation in Automatic mode, you can revert to the original definition. Right-click the name of the representation and select As Defined from the shortcut menu. • This Automatic representation is temporary. When you select a different representation, or close the View Manager, the original definitions of the representation are restored. To save the Automatic representation definitions, activate the user-defined representation in Automatic mode, and click > . |
Edit a Simplified Representation
1. Right-click a simplified representation and click
Edit Definition. The Component Chooser opens.
2. Edit the simplified representation as required.
3. After editing the simplified representation use one of the following options:
◦ To set the representation to active, click Open.
◦ To save a representation and not apply it to the assembly, click the arrow next to Open and click Save. You can save an edited simplified representation only when it is not the active representation.
The View Manager opens.
4. Click Close to exit the View Manager.
Copy a Simplified Representation
1. Right-click a simplified representation and choose Copy from the shortcut menu, or click > .
2. Accept the default name for the copied representation or type a new one, and then click Close. If the simplified representation includes user-defined definition rules, the On-Demand Copy Options dialog box opens.
3. Select one of the following options:
◦ Yes, copy “snapshot” of current Rep—Copies the current status of all components in the new representation. The copy does not contain definition rules and on-demand updating is disabled.
◦ No, copy last saved statuses only—Copies the last saved component status in the new representation. The copy contains definition rules and on-demand updating is enabled.
| Simplified representation with definition rules can cause instability when used in drawings. The contents of the representation can change as the assembly changes. |
4. Click Close to exit the View Manager.
Rename a Simplified Representation
1. Right-click the simplified representation name to change and choose Rename from the shortcut menu, or select the simplified representation and click > .
2. Type a new name and press ENTER.
Delete a Simplified Representation
1. Right-click the name of the simplified representation to delete and choose Remove from the shortcut menu, or select the simplified representation and click > .
Generate a List of Simplified Representations
• Click > for a description of all user-defined simplified representations.
