About Propagating Annotation Elements into Data Sharing Features
Annotation Elements and stacked annotation elements can be automatically propagated into data sharing features. These include Copy Geometry, Publish Geometry, Shrinkwrap, and Merge. Geometry entity parameters are also propagated to data sharing features.
An annotation plane is a datum plane that defines the orientation of an annotation item with respect to a 3D model. You can automatically propagate annotation planes that are referenced by Annotation Elements if the Annotation Elements are valid for propagation.
You can define propagated annotations as dependent or independent of referenced parts. If Annotation Elements are dependent on referenced parts, the elements in the data sharing feature are read-only. These types of Annotation Elements must be redefined as independent in order to be modified.
Annotation Propagation for Parent-Child Stacks
• Selecting any annotation for propagation automatically includes all related annotations in its stack, ensuring consistency in propagation and dependency states
• When a parent annotation’s propagation is disabled, all dependent child annotations in the stack also have propagation disabled.
• Re-enabling propagation for a parent annotation will re-enable propagation for all dependent child annotations in the stack.
• Individual child annotations can be set as independent, updating their dependency status in the propagation logic.
• Independent child annotations can retain their properties and placement, and are not suppressed unless explicitly removed from the stack.
• When an independent annotation is placed elsewhere and is no longer part of the original stack, it remains visible and unaffected by changes to stack-level propagation.
Annotation Propagation for Legacy Models
Legacy models retain their original annotation propagation behavior until the changes are confirmed in the Propagate Annotation dialog box.
For legacy objects, the Propagate Annotation dialog box lists all stack members only after the changes are confirmed. To confirm the changes, redefine the existing data sharing feature, which initially lists only the parent annotation from the annotation stack. Open the Propagate Annotation dialog box and click OK. Then click OK in the data sharing feature ribbon.
The changes are applied only after both actions are completed.
Annotation Propagation for Copy Geometry Features
When using a Copy Geometry feature created from a Publish Geometry feature, the Propagate Annotation dialog box lists all annotations from the Publish Geometry feature. These annotations cannot be removed from the Copy Geometry feature; they must be removed in the Publish Geometry feature.
