To Create a Joint Members Feature using the Joint Members Assistant
Use the Joint Members Assistant tool to create Joint Members features in larger, more complex assemblies, when the level of hierarchy at which the feature is created is significant, and when you plan downstream activities like automation of weld and joint creation. The Joint Members Assistant is only available in assemblies.
1. Click Welding > Joint Members Assistant. The Joint Members Assistant dialog box opens.
2. Select the first part to add to the Joint Members feature.
3. Hold down the CTRL key while you select more parts to add to the Joint Members feature.
4. If the following issues are detected, the Run analysis button becomes available. Click Run analysis, and consider these issues:
Shared Assembly
In most cases, a Joint Members feature should be created at the lowest possible level of hierarchy in the Weld and Joint Tree. If a lower level is detected at which you could create the feature, the current level and the lower level of hierarchy are listed under Shared Assembly. You have the option to create the Joint Members feature at a higher level when it makes sense regarding the welding process.
Select the level of hierarchy at which to create the Joint Members feature. The level of hierarchy cannot be changed after you create a Joint Members feature.
Duplicate Joint Members
If the parts that you selected for the Joint Members feature are already contained in another Joint Members feature, then the Joint Members feature that already exists is listed under Duplicate Joint Members. You have two options:
To stop creating the current Joint Members feature and instead activate the existing feature, under Duplicate Joint Members, select the existing Joint Members feature, and click Activate.
To create a duplicate Joint Members feature that contains the same parts as an existing Joint Members feature, click Create.
