To Simplify a Curve
You can simplify curves that are created inside a Style feature. The Simplify tool reduces the number of points in a curve by deleting the points that have the least impact on the shape of the curve. Only points that are selected can be deleted by the Simplify tool, points that are not selected are not touched.
Simplifying a curve does not affect soft points. If you simplify a symmetrical curve, the symmetry is maintained. You can simplify free curves, planar curves, and curve on surface (COS) curves.
1. In the Model Tree, right-click the Style feature that contains the curve to simplify, and click
Edit Definition. The
Style tab opens.
2. Click > . The Curve Edit tab opens.
3. With the
Curve collector active, select one or more curves to simplify.
4. Select the range of points to simplify. Select the first point in the range, and hold down the SHIFT key while you select the last point. The first point, last point, and all the points between them are selected.
5. Simplify the curve in any of the following ways:
◦ Click
Simplify ◦ Right-click any of the selected points and click Simplify.
Each time you click Simplify, approximately ⅓ of the selected points are deleted.
