Creating a New Sheet Metal Part from a Sheet Metal Body
You can create a new part from a sheet metal body. Use the inheritance option to create a sheet metal part or the copy geometry option to create a solid part.
1. In an open sheet metal part, right-click a sheet metal body and select Create Part from Body. The New Part from Body dialog box opens.
2. Accept the default name or enter a new name in the File name box.
3. To give the new part a common name, enter a name in the Common name box.
4. To create a sheet metal part from the selected body, click Inheritance.
5. To use a different template, clear the Use default template checkbox.
6. Click OK. A new sheet metal part opens in a new window. The inheritance feature copies all the bodies. A remove feature, keeps the body selected for the new part and removes the rest of the bodies. Parameters in the new body are driven by the inheritance feature.
