Creating Flat Pattern Representations
Flat pattern representations allow you to create a simplified representation of one sheet metal body in the flatten state, and of the body in the initial state. All other bodies are removed from the flat pattern representation. You can include the flat pattern representation in a combined view. When you display Combined Views, you can toggle between views and see how the flat piece is affected by modifications to the master representation.
1. Use one of the methods below to create a flat pattern simplified representation.
Click Sheetmetal > Flat Pattern > Create Representation.
You can select a different body if you do not want to create the representation from the default body.
Click in the Flat Pattern Preview window.
You cannot select a different body, the body in the preview window is selected.
Right-click the body in the Model Tree and select Create Representation.
You cannot select a different body, the body was selected in the Model Tree.
The Flat Representation dialog box opens.
2. Select one or both of the following representation options:
Flat—Creates a representation of the selected body in the flat state of the body.
Initial—Creates a representation of the selected body in the initial state of the body.
3. Accept the default names for the Flat and Initial representations, or add custom text as a prefix, suffix, or at any place in the name string. You can type a new, valid, representation name.
*
You can use the smt_flat_simp_rep_name_format configuration option to set the default name for flat representations.
When you create a new representation for a legacy flat pattern, you can only create a flat representation.
The flat representation appears in the Simp Rep tab of the View Manager. To create a combined view with the flat representation, click All and create a new combined view. Click to select the Display combined views check box to display combined views.
