To Create a Silhouette Curve to Handle Mold Undercuts
1. On the Mold or Cast tab, click Silhouette Curve. The Silhouette Curve tab opens.
2. Click
and select one or more surfaces of a reference model body. If a single body reference model exists in an assembly, the model is automatically selected. Alternatively, you can select the required surfaces or reference model body surfaces on the
Reference tab.
3. Click the
Light Direction Collector and select a surface, curve, edge, axis, plane, or coordinate system to specify the light direction.
4. Click the Slides tab and select volumes or part bodies in the assembly. When you include the slides in the reference geometry, the respective undercuts are excluded from the silhouette curve.
5. Use the Loop Selection tab to include or exclude a particular loop or chain if an intersection occurs between the slider and the reference part silhouette curves.
6. Click
OK.
| The silhouette feature creation does not fail if the model is changed or regenerated, or if the undercut geometry gets disappeared through the evolution of the part. |
If you delete the slide insert while the undercut condition persists, the silhouette curve feature includes the new reference part loops. As a result, any skirt feature or other child features created from the silhouette curve can fail or create undesirable geometry.
