Solid Tool Holders Support for High Speed Milling
Intricately shaped solid tool holders are supported for degouging in HSM steps only. There is no change in behavior for steps other than HSM steps for solid tool holder support.
Consider the following information when using solid tools and solid tool holders only in HSM steps:
A defined tool can use parametric dimensions such as tool length, tool diameter, taper angle, corner radius and other parametric dimensions. These parameters are considered as defined. There is no change in behavior for tool definition.
A solid tool holder ignores the parametric dimensions such as holder diameter and holder length, even if specified. Instead, the toolpath considers the holder shape corresponding to the part design of the solid tool holder.
It is your responsibility to assemble the solid tool and solid tool holder in correct position for generating the correct toolpath and simulation.
The correct placement of the holder and tool results in correct toolpath generation and simulation. For example:
1. Solid tool holder
2. Defined tool length
3. Solid tool
If the tool is placed inside the holder, incorrect toolpath and simulation is generated. For example:
1. Solid tool holder
2. Defined tool length
3. Solid tool
Solid tool holders support for degouging is not applicable for non-rotary parts and tool attachments.
