About Visual Mirroring
Visual mirroring is the ability to mirror the model on the screen without creating actual geometry. This provides a visual representation of the complete model.
Visual mirroring creates a mirror image of the model. Visual mirroring creates a light weight graphics display of the actual model, that is, no feature or geometry for the mirrored image is created. Therefore, you cannot select features or geometry of the visual mirror of the object. Also, Visual mirror of a model does not add to the mass properties of the model.
Visual mirror for a model is created only in the Part mode.
Visual mirror is also available in the Style mode. The
Visual Mirror appears on the Graphics toolbar in the Style mode.
Visual mirror is available when
Shading With Reflections is toggled on.
To create a visual mirror image of the model, click > > and select a datum plane. When you select a datum plane (mirror plane), geometry like curves, surfaces and solid geometry, are mirrored about the selected plane. The visual mirror for the object continues to be visible till you toggle off
Visual Mirror. When you update the features or geometry in the model, the visual mirror for the model is automatically updated to reflect the changes.
Visual mirror also displays the following types of non-directional analysis carried out on the model:
• Surface and curve curvature analysis
• Shaded curvature analysis
• Reflection analysis
Visual mirror for the model will display for directional analysis such as Draft and Slope. However the results may not be correct for the direction.
Hidden Line Removal (HLR) display of the mirrored curves or surfaces is not allowed. If the user switches to HLR, the mirror is not displayed.
