About Trail and Training Files
Trail Files
A trail file is an editable text (.txt) file that is a record of all menu choices, dialog-box choices, selections, and keyboard entries for a working session. Before playing a trail file, you must rename the file outside of your Creo Parametric session. When you run a trail file, you can reconstruct a previous Creo Parametric session or recover from an unexpected termination of a session.
When you run a trail file, the system replays the selections in the exact order in which they were originally made.
For a trail file to play successfully, the conditions of your Creo Parametric session must be the same as when the trail file was created. Ensure the following:
• You are using the same model.
• The release of Creo Parametric is the same. Launch Creo Parametric from the working directory that contains the same model.
• User interface customization are the same and configuration options are set as they were.
Training Files
Training files are customized trail files with the extension .txa. Training files contain directives that provide additional information about sample exercises or operations in Creo Parametric. These directives can include pauses and textual comments that appear in an INFORMATION WINDOW. Training files use the extension .txa. You can train yourself to use Creo Parametric by creating training files. A training file is a trail file that contains information that guides you through a sample exercise or operation in Creo Parametric. When you run a training file, the comments that you inserted are displayed in an INFORMATION WINDOW. Training files are often used to help less experienced users come up to speed on an operation or as a refresher for others.
Trainer Text Files
The trainer text file contains the text that appears when you play the training file. Each training file can reference a single trainer text file. The training text file contains text blocks that appear in a text window when playing a training file. The information in the text blocks typically describes what is occurring in Creo Parametric. The information in the text blocks can also provide tips for performing an operation and data that may not appear graphically.
The trainer text file is divided in sections. The format for each section is as follows:
#begin number
text
#end
In the trainer text file format, text is the text that appears on the screen at a point in the training file.
