Create a Section in a Ply View
You can create one or more sections in a ply view. To create sections in the ply view, the parent composite feature must have laminate sections. To learn how to create laminate sections in the composite feature, see Show a Laminate Section.
*
When you create a laminate section in a part, you can display it in every drawing view that supports standard planar sections. However, you cannot display it in composite-specific drawing views, such as a ply view or a flat ply view.
Create a section in a ply view as follows:
1. In the Drawing View dialog box, select Sections from the list of categories.
2. Select Piles section.
3. Click to add a ply section.
4. Select a laminate section under Name.
5. Select the visibility style under Sectioned Area.
6. To flip the direction of the cross section, click .
7. To control the display of model edges, select one of the following Model edge visibility options:
Total—Displays the model edges behind the section planes as well as the section edges.
*
When you use this option, we recommend that you set the value of show_quilts_in_total_xsecs in Detail Options to yes.
Area—Displays only section edges.
8. Click OK.
Remove a Ply Section
1. In the Drawing View dialog box, select Sections from the list of categories.
2. Click to remove a section or select No section to remove all sections from the ply view.
