About Welding
Use the Welding application to perform the following actions:
Create and modify simple and compound welds in a model. Weld geometry can be surface or light.
*
Light geometry references existing curves or edges but does not contain geometry of its own.
Prepare edges for welding and create weld notches.
Hide or display welds in a model.
Define parameters of the welding process.
Create assembly drawings with welding symbols or obtain 3D welding symbols.
Obtain both general and specific information about welds, including location, mass, volume, and size.
Generate Pro/REPORT tables with welding material and weld information.
A typical welding session could include the following steps:
1. Open a part or sheetmetal part, or import the reference part into the welding environment by entering Assembly mode and retrieving or creating an assembly.
2. Define the welding environment by defining welding materials, processes, preferences, and parameters.
3. Determine if you want to weld, prepare edges, create weld notches, or a combination of the three.
4. Determine the family table configuration. The family table provides the functionality to create the cut in either the generic model or instances of the model.
5. Determine if you want your weld to contain surface or light geometry.
6. Define the type of weld, edge preparation, or notch to perform on the model.
7. Define the edge preparation cut, notch, or weld dimensions.
8. Generate either a bill of materials (BOM) or Pro/REPORT tables with weld parameters or both.
