About Quilts
A quilt is a set of non-solid surfaces. It can consist of a single or multiple surfaces.
A quilt contains information describing the geometry of all the surfaces that compose it, and how they are joined or intersected together.
A model can contain several quilts. You can select quilts as references for features.
Creation of quilts
When a feature introduces new, non-solid surface geometry into the model, these surfaces will compose a new quilt. In some cases, features will result in more than one quilt. Quilts are owned by the feature that created their geometry.
Quilts in the Model Tree
In the Model Tree, quilts appear in the Quilts folder, in the order that they are created. You cannot reorder the quilts. The total number of quilts is automatically updated in the label of the Quilts folder. In part models, the Quilts folder is located under Design Items.
In the Model Tree, the icon reflects the quilt state:
—Quilt that contains geometry
—Consumed quilt
You can customize the types of quilts that appear in the Model Tree, and toggle the display of contributing features. On the Model Tree toolbar, click Tree Filters to open the Tree Filters dialog box, and then select the Body/Quilt page to display the quilt options.
Shortcut commands
The following commands are available on the shortcut menu when you click a quilt:
Insert to Quilt—Allows you to add features to the selected quilt.

Trim—Cuts or splits the selected quilt, or removes material from the quilt.
Offset—Offsets the surfaces of the selected quilt by a constant or variable distance.
Thicken—Adds thickness to the selected quilt, converting it to solid geometry.
Flip Normal—Flips the normal direction of the selected quilt to the opposite side of the quilt.
Geometry Pattern—Patterns the selected quilt.
The following commands are available on the shortcut menu when you right-click a quilt:
Copy Snapshot—Copies the quilt geometry as a new quilt. Available for objects created in Creo, or versions of Pro/ENGINEER starting with Wildfire 4.0 and later.
