About the Linearized Stress Report Dialog Box
Click Home > Linearized Stress to open the Linearized Stress Report dialog box with the following options:
To calculate linearized stress, you must first define a linearization line segment by selecting two points.
Select plane—Selects cutting planes or capping plane created on the model with fringe result. This option is available only when you create cutting planes or a capping plane on the fringe result.
Point 1—Defines the starting point of the linearization line segment. You can select a point on the fringe result model using the Points Selection collector.
Point 2—Defines the end point of the linearization line segment using the following methods:
On Opposite Surface—Selects the end point of the linearization line segment automatically. This is done by computing the surface normal at the first point and then following the normal inward to the point on the other side of the part. The line segment must be within 2 degrees of the normal to the opposite surface. If a second point cannot be located automatically, you must select it.
Datum Point—Selects the end point on the fringe result model. The linearization line segment connecting Point 1 and Point 2 defines the x-axis of the linearization basis. A cartesian UCS (user coordinate system) with the origin at the midpoint of the line between Point 1 and Point 2
appears.
Component—Selects the specific type of linearized stress quantity results you want to display.
Basis—Defines the linearization basis.
The middle area of the report shows the detailed values ofMembrane,Bending,Mem+Bend,Peak, andTotalstresses at the two selected points and at their midpoint. It also lists the maximum of the values.
The lower area of the report shows a graph of the linearized stress along the specified line segment. The graph shows the following values:
Membrane stress
Membrane plus bending stress
Total stress
Save Report—Saves the results to a file.
When you open the Linearized Stress Report dialog box, the default fringe state of the result model is solid. Click View > Transparent to change the default fringe state of the result model to transparent.
*
Linearized Stress is active in the user interface only when you select Fringe as the display type and Stress as the quantity and it is not available in FEM mode.
