Conditions
Conditions and parameters in the Properties panel for the Multicomponent Mixing module are described in this section.
Components—You can add or remove components of the mixture when you click the plus + or minus – symbol. Components that you add appear as comp_1, comp_2, and so on by default. You can rename the components by double-clicking the tab that contains each of their names. Fluid properties of the components are specified in the relevant modules, for example, Flow, Heat, and Common.
Converge Criterion—When the correction for the solved variables drops below the specified value, the code stops (Steady) or moves to the next time-step (Transient).
Numerics—Parameters and schemes used to solve the equations.
Soret Effects—Allows you to account for mass flux that occurs due to a temperature gradient and appears in the multicomponent continuity equation. Each component in the multicomponent continuity equation has its own diffusional velocity. To activate Soret Effects, click Yes. For components under Multicomponent Mixing, set Soret Effects to Yes to calculate the thermodiffusion coefficient based on kinetic theory.
The settings for the fluid domain in the Multicomponent Mixing module are classified under the following categories:
