Term
Definition
conflict
Contradicting or redundant conditions of two or more strong dimensions or constraints. Removing or modifying a constraint or dimension resolves the conflict and conveys intent.
Continue mode
The Sketcher environment for performing several operations in succession, such as creating several entities. These tools work in Continue mode:
Sketching tools
Selection collector
Dimension commands
Constraint commands
constraint
A condition that conveys intent by defining the geometry of an entity or a relationship among entities, such as parallel or equal radius. A constraint symbol appears next to the entity to which the constraint is applied. See also strong or weak constraint or dimension.
Construction entity
An element visible only in Sketcher. It does not convey feature-level information.
dimension
A measurement of an entity or a distance between entities. You can use dimensions to convey intent. See also strong or weak constraint or dimension.
entity
Any element of the section geometry, such as a line, arc, circle, spline, conic, point, or coordinate system. You create entities when you sketch, divide, or intersect the section geometry or when you reference geometry outside the section.
Geometry entity
Real geometry, including lines, curves, shapes, points, coordinate systems, or centerlines that convey feature-level information in Part or Assembly mode.
parameter
An auxiliary numerical value in Sketcher.
Reference entity
A section element created in 3D Sketcher that references geometry outside the section, such as a part edge. You can use it to convey intent. For example, you can create a dimension in Sketcher that references a part edge, creating a reference entity projection of that part edge onto the sketching plane.
relation
An equation relating dimensions or parameters or both, which you can use to convey intent. For example, you can use a relation to set the length of one line to be half the length of another line.
Rubberband mode
The Sketcher environment for dragging an entity so it follows the pointer's movements. You must finish sketching the entity before performing other operations.
strong constraint or dimension
A fixed measurement that you create to convey intent. See also constraint or dimension.
weak constraint or dimension
A system-generated measurement solving the sketch that changes according to any modifications. See also constraint or dimension.
