To Intersect Bodies
When you intersect bodies, the resulting geometry is the intersection of the body selected in the Body to modify collector with all the bodies in the Modifying bodies collector. The resulting geometry remains in the body to modify. The modifying bodies become consumed. Select one body to modify, and one or more modifying bodies.
In the example, the blue block is the body to modify. The purple block and the green cylinder are the modifying bodies.

1. Click Boolean Operations. The Boolean Operations tab opens.
2. Under Operation, click Intersect.
3. Under Bodies, make sure the Body to modify collector is active, and in the Model Tree or graphics window, select one body to modify. In the example, it is the blue block.
4. Make sure the Modifying bodies collector is active, and select a body or bodies to intersect the body to modify. Do one of these things:
Select a body or bodies.
Select a geometry pattern, and the Boolean operation uses the bodies in the pattern as the modifying bodies.
In the example, the modifying bodies are the green cylinder and purple block.
*
Bodies that include mixed representation geometry, such as simplified lattice, homogenized lattice, volumetric lattice, or facet geometry, cannot be modifying bodies in Boolean features.
5. Optionally, to keep the modifying bodies in the part, click Keep Bodies.
Sheet metal bodies can only be selected in a Boolean feature if the Keep Bodies option is selected.
6. The appearance of the surfaces of the modifying bodies will be copied automatically to the corresponding surfaces of the body to modify by default. If you do not want the appearances to be copied, click Copy Surface Appearances to toggle the copying off.
7. To use the geometry of the modified body as alternative references for the modifying bodies, click Update References.
If you keep the modifying bodies, this option is not available.
8. Click OK. The resulting intersected geometry remains in the body to modify, that keeps its blue color. The modifying bodies are consumed.
*
Bodies that do not contain geometry are ignored.
