About the Substitute Feature User Interface
The Substitute tab consists of commands, tabs, and shortcut menus.
Commands
References
Substitute references collector—Collects either surfaces or one-sided edge loops to replace.
Substituting surfaces collector—Collects the surfaces that will replace the references to substitute.
—Reverses the normal direction of the substituting surfaces.
Tabs
References
Substituted entity collector:
Substitute surfaces—Displays surfaces or surface sets from multiple bodies and quilts to replace with the substituting surfaces.
Transform selected attachment rounds/chamfers check box—Moves the selected rounds and chamfers that attach the moved geometry to the model. When not checked, the selected attaching rounds and chamfers are removed and optionally recreated. Available when surfaces are substituted, but not when edge loops are substituted.
Substitute edge loops—Displays one or more closed loops of one-sided edges of one or more quilts, to replace with edges that are created on the substituting surfaces. Available when the model contains open quilts.
Details—Opens the Surface Sets dialog box.
Substituting surfaces—Displays the surfaces of a single body or a single quilt that replace the geometry to be substituted.
Attachment
Create round/chamfer geometry check box—Specifies whether to create round or chamfer geometry after the geometry selection is substituted and attached. The default is to create round or chamfer geometry.
Bounding edges collector—Collects edges that act as boundaries for geometry.
Next—Finds the next solution. Available when the geometry selected in the Substitute surfaces collector is from a single body or quilt.
Previous—Finds the previous solution when there are multiple solutions. Available when the geometry selected in the Substitute surfaces collector is from a single body or quilt.
Maintain solution topology check box—Fails regeneration when the model changes and the same solution type can not be reconstructed.
Options
Keep substituting surfaces check box—Prevents the substituting surfaces from being consumed by the substitute feature when the substituting surfaces are a separate quilt.
Properties
Name—Displays the feature name.
—Displays the feature information in a browser that opens.
Shortcut Menu
Right-click the graphics window to access shortcut menu commands.
Geometry Rule Surfaces—Opens the Geometry Rules dialog box.
Shape Surfaces—Selects a shape surface set.
Tangent Surfaces—Selects a tangent surface set.
Substituted surfaces—Activates the substitute entity collector when the tool is set to collect surfaces.
Edge loops—Activates the substitute entity collector when the tool is set to collect edge loops.
Substituting surfaces—Activates the substituting surfaces collector.
Bounding edges—Collects edges that act as boundaries for geometry.
Clear—Clears the selection buffer.
Transform selected attachment Rounds/Chamfers—Substitutes the selected rounds and chamfers that attach the substituted geometry to the model. If not checked, the selected attaching rounds and chamfers are removed and optionally recreated.
Create round/chamfer geometry (default)—Specifies whether to create round or chamfer geometry after the geometry selection is substituted and attached.
Keep substituting surfaces—Creates a copy of the substituting surfaces and places the copy in the new location keeping the original.
Next solution—Finds the next solution when there are multiple solutions.
Previous solution—Finds the previous solution when there are multiple solutions.
Maintain solution topology—Fails regeneration when the model changes and the same solution type can not be reconstructed.
