To Place a Surface Finish
To place a surface finish:
1. Click Annotate > Annotations. Select Surface Finish.
2. Select a surface finish symbol from the gallery, or from the disk using Browse.

While you create new surface finish, the last used surface finish is selected and attached to the cursor. You can change this mode with the configuration option attach_last_surf_fin_to_cursor.
3. Right-click the surface finish to select a placement type.
If no placement type is selected, Automatic mode is selected as the default placement type.
4. Place the surface finish. For Free, On Entity, or Normal to Entity type surface finish, left-click to place the surface finish. For a surface finish with leader type, middle-click to place it.

You can change the annotation plane if the active annotation plane is not suitable.
After you place a surface finish, it remains selected and:
The surface finish ribbon gets replaced by the contextual ribbon. The contextual ribbon displays data of the surface finish.
You can edit the surface finish in any of the following ways:
Edit properties.
Add semantic references by clicking References, the button will get activated for a standalone annotation surface.
Add restricted and non-restricted references.
Left-click the surface finish to complete its creation and close the contextual ribbon.

When a surface finish is already available in the active object, while you place a subsequent surface finish, the last used surface finish instance will be selected automatically. All properties, grouping and variable text selections, of the last used surface finish, will be selected for the subsequent instance of the surface finish.
