Surface Finish Shortcut Commands
To view these commonly used commands, right-click a surface finish.
Change Placement—Change the reference and placement type. In Model-Based Definition, MBD, this deletes all restricted references. Non-restricted references are retained. All applicable placement types are available when you right-click this command.
Edit Attachment—Change the leader position. You can edit the attachment of leader and place it on any other non-consumed surface. The newly selected surface gets added to restricted references.
Add Leader—Add an additional leader. Creo then adds its attachment reference to the Individual collector plus a corresponding restricted reference to the Surface Sets collector.
Delete Leader—Delete a selected leader. Creo then removes this reference from both restricted and individual references.
Repeat —Create one new instance of a surface finish. All properties of the existing surface finish symbol are applied to this new surface finish symbol instance.
*
Only one instance of surface finish is placed using Repeat . To place a surface finish multiple times, activate Repeat Mode from the Surface Finish ribbon instead.
To place surface finish, select a surface finish, on the mini toolbar click Repeat, then middle-click to place it on selected reference. You can then perform any of the following actions:
Change the settings of the surface finish symbol, then place that symbol. For example, to change placement type, right-click a surface finish symbol, then place it.
Switch to Repeat Mode. to begin a process to place the surface finish symbol. You can change the settings of the surface finish symbol by clicking the symbol itself, then click Repeat, then on the surface finish ribbon click Repeat Mode.
Convert—Converts a selected legacy surface finish symbol to a modern surface finish symbol. In this case surface finish symbols created in Creo 8.0 or earlier are considered legacy. You can convert a surface finish in the following ways:
Right-click a surface finish symbol, then click Convert.
Select a surface finish symbol, then open the References dialog box. The surface finish symbol is automatically converted.
Select a surface finish symbol, then select Change Placement in the mini toolbar.
Select a surface finish symbol, then in the Surface Finish tab, click Options, then select the Designate check box.
Convert All—Convert all available legacy annotations to modernized annotations. In this case, surface finish symbols created in Creo 7.0 or earlier are considered legacy
*
When you select an annotation that is already converted, but unconverted annotations remain on the same model, the only shortcut menu command available for the converted surface finish symbol is Convert All.
Update Symbol —Update all instances of a surface finish symbol with the latest definition. A message then appears in the message area.
Generally, CAD administrators redefine symbols and keep the updated version in the users’ directory of surface finish symbols, according to the configuration option pro_symbol_dir. When updating a surface finish, right-click, then select Update Symbol. All instances of that surface finish are updated.
The surface finish symbol is also updated when you open a legacy model, and when you use Convert or Convert All. When the surface finish symbol is not updated, a message appears in the message area that the symbol definition is latest and no symbol instance is updated.
