To Create a Manufacturing Template
A manufacturing template is an XML file containing information necessary to perform the step. You can create a manufacturing template based on a single step or on multiple steps. The steps do not have to be consecutive.
1. Select one or more steps in the Process Table.

To include a Reroughing step in a template, you must also include the reference Roughing or Reroughing step.
2. Click . The New Template dialog box opens.
3. By default, the template name is based on the name of the first selected step. You can change it by typing a different name in the Template Name box. It must comply with the filename requirements for your operating system and have the .xml extension.
4. If you want to link an image to the template, specify the path and name of the image file in the Image box. It can be a GIF or JPEG file. You can browse for the image file by clicking next to the Image box. Once an image file is linked to the template, you can view the image by clicking .
5. The Steps tabbed page lists the names of selected steps. If you want to specify the extraction priority, type the numbers in the corresponding Extraction Priority boxes.

In the Extraction Priority column, specify the extraction priority for the step.
In the Retract Plane column, specify the retract distance for the step. You can also enter a relation instead of the value .
Leave this column empty to use the same retract plane as the operation.
If the step uses a different retract plane, the distance of the retract plane from the coordinate system along the Z-axis is automatically displayed in this column.
6. Use the Parameters tabbed page, if desired, to specify parameter names and values associated with the template.

These are data management parameters associated with the template, not the manufacturing parameters for the NC sequence. The manufacturing parameter values are derived from the step on which the template is based.
7. Use the Prompts tabbed page to define a custom prompt for the references you have selected while creating the step. If you do not define a prompt, Creo NC uses the existing internal prompt.
8. Use the Notes tabbed page, if desired, to specify comments for the template.
9. Click Preview to view the template information in the Creo Parametric embedded browser. The information includes the image associated with the template, notes, special parameters (if any). It also contains the list of steps included in the template and a list of required references with descriptions.
10. Click OK. The system saves the template file in the XML format in the current working directory.

In addition to parameters and their values, the relations between parameters are also stored in the template. These relations shall contain only NC or tool parameters. The other variables in these relations are replaced by their corresponding values before the relations are stored in the template.
