About Setting Instances in Component Editor
Component instances are saved in a family table.
1. Click > > to open the Component Editor dialog box.
2. Select the Instances tab.
3. Within the Instances table all selectable instances of a library component can be defined. By default the table only contains one default instance with four columns. These four columns are mandatory and can not be deleted.
◦ Type: Needs to be the given type of the Library. In case this values is different the instance line will be ignored.
◦ Instances: This columns need to have a unique string for each instance row. Usually, it is similar to the order number. It is important that no special characters are used in this cell, because this entry is used for renaming purposes as well. (Valid example: E1200_8_20).
◦ Order Number:
This value is the order number which will be assigned to the parameter designated with the default rule &ord_number. This value can contain special characters (Valid example: E1200/8x20).
◦ Customer Number: This value has a default value of “-”. This can be used to assign special strings to the parameter designated with the default value &user_number.
4. The instances can no be modified by assigning new instance dimensions. Select the header row of one column and use the Right-Mouse Menu to add a new Instances dimensions with
Insert columns before or
Insert columns after. Three different types of Instances Dimension can be added to the table.
◦ Dimension: A dialog box opens which listed all dimensions symbol of the given part or assembly. Multiple dimensions can be selected. After confirmation the parameters will be added as new columns to the
Instances table.
◦ Parameter: A dialog box opens which listed all parameters defined in the given part or assembly. Multiple parameters can be selected. After confirmation the parameters will be added as new columns to the
Instances table.
◦ Subcomponent: (For Assemblies only) Subcomponents for assemblies can be a added as instance dimensions. With subcomponent instance dimension it is possible to let EMX select certain subcomponent instance
The columns can be shifted to the left (
Shift columns to the left) and right (
Shift columns to the right). Existing columns that are different from the default columns can also be removed (
Remove columns).
5. To add or modify the instances select a row or a cell. New instances can be edited above (
Insert rows above) or below(
Insert rows below) the selected rows.
Existing instances can be shifted up (
Shift rows up) and down (
Shift rows down).
6. Cell values can be edited with a Double-click.
7. Click
to copy all instances information to the clipboard for editing externally, such as editing in an EXCEL file.
8. Click
to paste the externally edited instances information back to the component editor. You can edit the cell values and insert new columns.
