ECAD Model Tree Parameters
The following table lists the ECAD Model Tree parameters along with additional information to determine when and how you can use them.
Parameter
Optional Value
Valid Format
Description
ECAD_REF_DES
Reference Designator
All
The component reference designator coming from the electrical side.
ECAD_OWNER
ECAD
MCAD
UNOWNED
IDF 3.0/IDX/EDA
Shows the owner of board or other outline. When set to ECAD, MCAD has no ability to change it.
ECAD_PLACEMENT_STATUS
PLACED UNPLACED MCAD ECAD
IDF/IDX/EDA
Placed—The component is placed on the board.
Unplaced—The component is not placed on the board.
MCAD—The component is fixed and can only be modified by the MCAD side.
ECAD—The component is fixed and can only be modified by the ECAD side.
*
Although this is an ECAD-MCAD requirement, Creo does not enforce the ECAD restriction.
ECAD_ALT_NAME
Any
All
The ECAD system alternative name for the component, it contains the part number. This parameter is from the hint map file.
ECAD_NAME
Any
All
Contains the package name, and may or may not be the name of the Creo Parametric part depending on the usage of the hint map file.
ECAD_PART_TYPE
Panel
Board
Electrical
Mechanical
Other
IDF/IDX/EDA
Shows the component type.
ECAD_PART_NAME
any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Shows the other outline name.
BOARD_SIDE
TOP, BOTTOM, BOTH
All (according to the areas)
The side associated with the place region, place keepin, or place keepout ECAD area.
For components, this is a restricted parameter. It takes its value from actual side that the component is placed on the board. The value changes when you move the component in Creo Parametric or when you import an IDX/IDF file that controls the component placement. Importing a new IDX/IDF file overrides previous component placement.
ROUTING_LAYERS
TOP, BOTTOM, BOTH, ALL, INNER
IDF 2.0, IDF 3.0, and IDX/EDA
Shows which ECAD board routing layers in the electrical system are included in a Creo Parametric routing area ECAD feature. Via areas go through the board and therefore, do not have this parameter. (No actual routing on the board is supported for transfer by IDF standard.)
COMPONENT_GROUP_NAME
Any
IDF 2.0, IDF 3.0, and IDX/EDA
Allow adding or keeping a name for place region ECAD area feature.
ECAD_HOLE_TYPE
PTH, NPTH PIN, VIA, MTG, TOOL, OTHER
IDF 2.0, IDF 3.0, and IDX/EDA
The type of hole feature. (if the hole is not imported as a feature, the parameter is not imported.)
ECAD_ASSOCIATED_PART
BOARD PANEL
IDF 2.0, IDF 3.0, and IDX/EDA
In the ECAD system, this is the part to which the Creo Parametric hole feature relates.
ECAD_PLATING_STYLE
PTH, NPTH
IDF 3.0 and IDX
Plated through hole, non-plated through hole.
ECAD_HOLE_OWNER
ECAD MCAD UNOWNED
IDF 3.0 and IDX
Owner of the hole feature, ECAD, MCAD, or unowned.
ECAD_CAPACITANCE
Any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Capacitance value.
ECAD_RESISTANCE
Any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Resistance value.
ECAD_TOLERANCE
Any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Tolerance value.
ECAD_THETA_JC
Any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Junction to case thermal resistance (C/Watt).
ECAD_THETA_JB
Any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Junction to board thermal resistance (C/Watt).
ECAD_POWER_OPR
Any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Operating power rating (Milliwatts).
ECAD_POWER_MAX
Any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Maximum power rating (Milliwats).
ECAD_THERM_COND
Any string
EMP/IDX/EDA
Thermal conductivity (Watt/meter C).
ECAD_MCAD_CREATION_ID_STRING
Any string
IDX/EDA
Shows the component ID.
ECAD_MCAD_CREATION_ID_TOOL
Any string
IDX/EDA
Shows the name of the tool used to create the component.
ECAD_FUNCTIONAL_NAME
Any string
IDX/EDA
Shows the functional name.
PTC_ECAD_USER_DEFINED_AREA_TYPE
Any string
IDX/EDA
ECAD board feature parameter.
Shows the type name for ECAD user defined areas.
