About Logical Referencing
Use Import to reference information created in Creo Schematics directly in Cabling. This information includes the reference designator, pin-to-pin connection information, and parameter values of connectors, pins, spools, wires, and cables. You can reference the whole diagram or only items on selected layers. You can also autoroute wires, cables, and designate connectors.
The cbl_logical_file function allows you to create a relation to the logical data file name that you import in an assembly. Note that this relation will return a value only if defined at an assembly level with logicaldata. The relation returns the name of the file as value. This relation can be assignedto aparameter. This parameter, when designated, can be used in Windchill to identify logical file name used in the cabling assembly without retrieving that assembly. The parameter helps you locate the referenced logical data file when you want to update it.
Use Import to import the logical information from other schematic authoring tools using the PTC neutral wire list format (.nwf) or the Mentor Graphics wire list format.
Use Logical Data > Ref Diagram to reference information created in Diagram.
If you change the 3D design or the schematic, you must re-import the XML file and click Update to update the cabling assembly with the new logical data. All specified spools, connectors, and wires in the assembly are updated. For example, if you change the characteristics of a spool in your Schematic design and re-read it in the logical data, after update the 3D harness will be updated with the new spool information.
In the Creo Schematics file, ensure that the parameters such as, spool_name, full_name, and term_name that are used to create feature names do not contain the following:
Spaces
Begin with “-“
Characters such as !,”,£,$,%,^,&,*, ( )
However, the parameter names can contain the following characters:
Letters
Digits
“_”
“-“
An ASCII character greater than 127
Use Compare to compare the imported logical information with the 3D design data, and identify the difference between the schematic and 3D data. The output can be displayed on the screen or written to a file.

You must have unique reference designators across the Cabling assembly. This is because you perform a logical referencing operation on the entire assembly and not specifically with respect to any harness part.
If you export a logical reference, you can write physical data of the wires, connectors, and components in your assembly to a file, for analysis purposes in other systems.
