To Define a Turn Profile by Cross Section
If a reference part for turning has a complex contour, the process of defining the cut by selecting edges, or sketching and aligning, can be time consuming. You can accelerate this process by using the following technique.
1. On the Turn Profile tab, click Cross Section.
2. Click the Placement tab and specify the following options:
Coordinate system—Click the collector and specify the reference coordinate system.
Reference model—Select a reference part or bodies belonging to a single reference part.
*
Creation of a Turn Profile is possible from a single reference body or a single reference part.
If you selected a multibody reference part, the Turn Profile is created on a body that has the highest radii.
If you selected a single body, the Turn profile is directly created on the selected body.
If you selected multiple bodies, the Turn Profile is not created.
Excluded bodies—Select bodies of the selected reference part for excluding them from the turn profile. This collector is activated only if you have selected a part having multiple bodies as a reference.
3. If necessary, adjust the curve using the options on the Profile tab.
4. Click .
