Glued Interface for Weld Features
By default, Creo Simulate creates bonded interfaces between solid bodies and weld surfaces during meshing and solving. In models with overlapping volumes meshing fails. For example, meshing fails for corners with overlapping weld feature welds as shown in the following figure.
1. Solid weld 1 created using a fillet weld created in Creo
2. Solid weld 2 created using a fillet weld created in Creo
3. Overlapping volumes
Meshing fails in this case
You can use the “Glued Interface” feature to overcome this limitation. When creating or auto-detecting a weld feature weld, select the Use Glued Interface check box on the Weld Definition dialog box or on the Auto Detect Weld Features dialog box. The glued interface creates springs between the solid bodies and the weld surfaces. This allows meshing to complete successfully.
Mesh is successfully created when the Use Glued Interface check box is selected
