About Skeleton Models in Configurable Modules
You can add a skeleton model to a configurable module, like any other assembly, to capture the design intent. A skeleton model is always added as the first component in the configurable module. A skeleton can represents geometry as a design aid and can be referenced in a copy geometry feature. Multiple skeletons can be added to a configurable module when the multiple_skeletons_allowed configuration option is set to yes. See the Related Link below.
A skeleton in a configurable module is not a design solution, but it can be selected as a default solution to represent the configurable module in a configurable product. You can tag a skeleton the way you tag other module variants. Unlike other module variants, when the skeleton is not tagged, it is not considered as an incomplete tag. Skeletons display in the graphics window only in an aligned state and not in an exploded state.
