Assign material properties to a part
You can assign a material to parts loaded from Creo Elements/Direct Part Library or parts you create without Creo Elements/Direct Part Library. You can also copy material information from one part to another part. This information is stored in the contents data for the part.
When you assign a material to a part, the following properties are set:
• material description
• density
• transparency
• reflectance
• part color
• mirror power
To assign material properties to parts,
1. Click
Part Library and then, in the
Materials group, click the arrow next to
Information.
2. Click
Assign. The
SELECT A MATERIAL table and the
Assign dialog box open.
3. Click Part and select the part in the viewport or Structure Browser. Use the Select tool to select more than one part or assembly.
4. Alternatively, under Select Parts No Material, you can do one of the following:
◦ Click All In Assy and select an assembly to identify all parts that do not have assigned material within the assembly.
◦ Click Single In Assy and select an assembly to identify parts that do not have assigned material within the assembly, one by one. Click Next to search for the next part.
5. Select a material from the materials table.
6. Select Assign To Instances if the part is shared and you want the material assigned to all instances of this part.
7. Select Recursive if you want the material assigned to all parts in the assembly.
8. Click Apply.
9. You can select a new Color or deselect to retain the part's current color.
10. Click
OK 
to complete the operation.
| You will only see a part's transparency if you have it turned on in your Show settings. To check this setting, click > > and look for Part Trans. |
