What’s New in Creo Elements/Direct Annotation
Areal Surface Finish Support
The surface finish symbol standards list now contains an additional item for ISO 25178 – 2016. This standard configures the symbol to represent an areal surface finish symbol.
User Interface Location: Click Annotation > Symbol.
Release: Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 20.5.0.0.

Areal Surface Finish Support
What is the benefit of this enhancement?
Improved standard compliance coverage for surface finish symbols.
A rhomb is added to the symbol to indicate the areal surface finish type.
The position of the lay indicator (called “groove direction” in the symbol UI) is changed to be above the root symbol.

Multi-language Drawings Support
Creo Elements/Direct now offers multi-language drawings support in Annotation. This allows you to create and share multi-language drawings easily within your multi-national ecosystem and have a centrally-managed translation table for translation consistency.
User Interface Location: Click Annotation > Multi Language.
Release: Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 20.5.0.0.

Multi-language Drawings Support
What is the benefit of this enhancement?
The important features are:
Multi-language drawings contain translated text blocks based on entries in a multi-language table.
Once defined, the text blocks can be displayed on the drawing in either a single, primary language or a combination of the translations for the primary and secondary languages.
All of the entries in the table can be created and managed with the new multi-language table, for administrators and users.
Administrators:
Create, edit, filter, organize entries.
Index and translation fields.
Context or category fields.
Hide or obsolete fields.
Users:
Filter the multi-language text entries using the context or category.
Search or step through the multi-language text entries.
Use the hide or obsolescence filters for the multi-language text entries.
Use “Get Text” to insert the selected table entry when defining annotations such as dimension and geometric tolerance fix text, text fields in symbols and text notes, and table cell entries.
Change displayed languages on-the-fly by editing the primary or secondary language.
If a multi-language table is available, you can edit the language settings to switch between the configured languages, on-the-fly.
You can highlight all annotations that contain multi-language text blocks. This feature allows you to analyze the drawing, identify broken text blocks (no longer recognized as multi-language elements), and check which text blocks are not using multi-language text.
Creo Elements/Direct loads a multi-language drawing as follows:
Loads as last-saved, if multi-language support is disabled (File > Settings > Multi Language) or a multi-language table is not available.
Loads and replaces localized text based on the index in the table. You can load a drawing saving in EN or DE, and display it in EN or CH, or even FR or DE.
You can format the multi-language text as follows:
Single line with a separator that you can configure, or two lines (only single line in symbols).
Custom formatting of the font, text size, and color of the secondary language.
*
The multi-language table is set to be read-only if the multi language table path is set to “Corporate Level” or “Site Level”. Administrators who want to modify the table using the “Multi-Language Table” command in Annotation, must copy the table to their user directory and set the path to “User Level”. The multi-language table ID and version must be manually edited using a text editor.
The following image shows a drawing that has multi-language text.
