Cut slots
You can cut slots of specific widths on planar, cylindrical, or conical surfaces of sheets using the Cut Slot button in the Modify Sheet group. The following image shows a sheet part which has two slots.
To cut a slot,
1. Click Sheet Metal and then, in the Modify Sheet group, click Cut Slot. The Cut Slot dialog box opens.
2. Select the Face on which the slot is to be cut. The face must be a planar, cylindrical, or conical base face.
3. If the face is a planar face:
a. Select Position 1 to specify the first position for the cut.
b. Select Position 2 to specify the second position for the cut.
c. In the Width box, type the width of the cut.
4. If the face is a cylindrical or a conical face:
a. Select Position to specify the position for the cut.
b. Select Width to specify the width of the cut.
*
You can select either the inner or the outer face of the cone or cylinder; the width is applicable to the selected face. For conical faces, Creo Elements/Direct Sheet Metal applies the width to the side which is nearer to the apex of the cone and not to the base of the cone.
5. Click to complete the operation.
Limitations
If the side face of the sheet is chamfered, the chamfer is not cut. This limitation only applies to planar faces and not to cylindrical or conical faces.
If the face has a protruding sheet feature or tool geometry, the feature is not fully cut, as shown in the following image.
