Add threads to a face
You can add inner or outer threads to any cylindrical face with Creo Elements/Direct Part Library. The threads are chosen from a list of DIN standard thread dimensions.
If the cylindrical face has a neighboring chamfer, as show in the threaded face on the right below, the chamfer will be adjusted so it complies with the standard.
To add thread properties to a face,
1. Click Part Library and then, in the Thread group, click the arrow next to Attach.
2. You can add the following types of threads:
Metric thread: Standard metric DIN threads.
Metric fine thread: Standard metric DIN fine threads.
Different thread type: Other threads.
Special thread: User-defined threads.
To add threads without changing the cylindrical face, select a command from the Mark section. You can only choose threads from the standards that match the diameter of the face.
To add threads and change the cylindrical face, select a command from the Attach and adjust section. The diameter of the face will change to match the standard you select.
3. Click Cyl face and select the cylindrical face in the viewport.
4. Depending on which type of thread you chose in step 3, one or more of the following options will be available:
Reverse direction
thread pitch: Select left hand or right hand thread pitch.
Redo blends: Recalculates blends or chamfers that are adjacent to the cylindrical surface so they comply with the standard.
Thread type: Only available for the Other type.
5. Click OK to complete the operation.
