Create keyways in a hub
Quickly create keyways in a hub with Creo Elements/Direct Part Library, whether or not you have keys loaded.
If you have a key loaded,
1. Click Part Library and then, in the Shaft/Hub group, click the arrow next to Feather Key.
2. Click Feather Key Groove Hub/Feather Key. The Keyway/hub dialog box opens.
3. Select the Key part. The feather key must be in the correct position.
4. Select the Hub part.
5. Click OK to complete the operation.
If you do not have a key loaded or if you want to create more than one groove,
1. Click Part Library and then, in the Shaft/Hub group, click the arrow next to Feather Key.
2. Click Feather Key Boss. The Keyway/hub dialog box opens.
3. Select the Hub face in the viewport.
4. Click Width or Height to select a new keyway groove size from the table of standard dimensions.
5. To create more than one keyway in the hub, select Radial and set the Angle and Number of grooves.
6. Position the workplane so it lines up with the hub.
7. Click OK to complete the operation.

To align the workplane with your hub part,
1. Maximize the TS-WP-POSITION viewport and make the hub part visible.
2. First, you need to move the workplane so it is parallel with the end face of the hub part:
a. Click Par to Face and select the end face of the hub.
b. Click Apply.
3. Now you need to align the profiles with the hub:
a. Click Pos Dynamic.
b. Select Mate Align in the Methods section.
c. Select Align Axis.
d. Select the circular construction geometry in the viewport (magenta color, by default).
e. Select the cylindrical face on the hub.
f. Click Done at the bottom of the dialog.
4. If you need to rotate the profiles,
a. Click Rotate.
b. Select the center of the profile(s) and turn into position.
