Export mesh information
FE Analysis's Output group on the Modify tab allows you to save any mesh you have created in an external file for use with third-party FEA tools. The available file formats are PATRAN Neutral File, ASCII, and VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language).
Only mesh information is saved to this file. Other information, such as material, loads and boundary conditions, and unprocessed mesh conditioning requests, is ignored.
If you select the VRML output format, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling lets you visualize the geometric mesh quality by color-coding the good and bad elements.
To export mesh information to a file,
1. Generate a mesh for your model.
2. Verify the validity of the mesh using the Inquire button in the Mesh group on the Modify tab.
3. Click Mesh in the Output group. The Mesh Output dialog box opens.
4. Select the part with the mesh to export by clicking on it in the viewport.
5. Select a format for the output file in the Format box. The options are:
PATRAN NF: Mesh information is saved in PATRAN Neutral File format
ASCII: Mesh information is saved as standard ASCII text.
VRML: Mesh information is saved in Virtual Reality Modeling Language.
6. Enter a filename (with path information) for the output file or accept the suggested filename in the File box.
7. Click to accept your selections and save the file.
To write LBC, material, and mesh information to a deck,
1. Generate a mesh for your model.
2. Verify the validity of the mesh using the Inquire button in the Mesh group on the Modify tab.
3. In the Output group, click Deck. The Write Deck dialog box opens.
4. Select a format for the output file in the Format box. The options are:
PATRAN: Deck information is saved in PATRAN format.
NASTRAN: Deck information is saved in NASTRAN format.
ANSYS: Deck information is saved in ANSYS format.
5. Enter a filename (with path information) for the output file or accept the suggested filename in the File box.
6. Specify the type of analysis and required results.
7. Click to accept your selections and save the file.
