Create node locations (hardpoints)
To create a hardpoint on a vertex,
1. Click Modify and then, in the Mesh group, click the arrow next to Conditions.
2. Click Create. The Mesh Conditions dialog box opens.
3. Click Vertex in the Hardpoint area of the Mesh Conditions dialog box.
The Hardpoint dialog box opens, with the current study, if any, automatically available in the Study box.
If there is no current study, or if you wish to select a different one, enter the name of the study in the Study box.
In addition, the Name box displays the default name for this mesh condition. If you wish to provide a different one, enter the desired name for this mesh condition in the Name box.
4. Click Ref Position. Using the mouse cursor, click on the vertex where you want to create the hardpoint.
When you make your selection, the Ref Position box shows the position as "defined".
5. If you wish to set other hardpoints on vertices, click Next and repeat the procedure. You can do this for as many locations as needed.
6. When you finish defining hardpoints on vertices, click to complete the procedure.
To create a hardpoint on an edge,
1. Click Modify and then, in the Mesh group, click the arrow next to Conditions.
2. Click Create. The Mesh Conditions dialog box opens.
3. Click Edge in the Hardpoint area of the Mesh Conditions dialog box.
Using the mouse cursor, click on the the point on the edge where you want to create the hardpoint.
When you make your selection, the Ref Position button shows the position as "defined".
5. If you wish to set other hardpoints on edges, click Next and repeat the procedure. You can do this for as many locations as needed.
6. When you finish defining hardpoints on edges, click to complete the procedure.
To create a hardpoint on a face,
1. Click Modify and then, in the Mesh group, click the arrow next to Conditions.
2. Click Create. The Mesh Conditions dialog box opens.
3. Click Face in the Hardpoint area of the Mesh Conditions dialog box.
Using the mouse cursor, click on the vertex or on the point on the edge or face where you want to create the hardpoint.
When you make your selection, the Ref Position box shows the position as "defined".
5. If you wish to set other hardpoints, click Next and repeat the procedure. You can do this for as many locations as needed.
6. When you finish defining hardpoints, click to complete the procedure.
This function allows you to define the location or locations where you require individual nodes to be created during the meshing process. The size and number of elements will not change, but an element node will be created at the selected point or points on the model when the mesh is generated.
