When an element of a pattern changes its position, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling adds an offset to this element. If, as a result of various operations, all reference elements of a pattern have similar offsets, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling automatically repositions the entire pattern or changes the pattern definition to remove all offsets. This process is called the auto-validation of pattern offsets.
Creo Elements/Direct Modeling automatically manages a common change of offsets in a pattern in the following ways:
• Full: Checks if the offsets of all elements are equal and if so, incorporates the offsets in the pattern definition by moving the pattern.
• Rotate: Checks if all elements are rotated around a common axis and if so, rotates the pattern around the axis and removes the offset.
• Radial: Checks if the offsets can be substituted by a new pattern radius and if so, changes the radius of the pattern. This is only applicable to radial patterns.
• Move: Checks if the offsets can be substituted by a common move of the pattern and if so, moves the pattern accordingly.
• Affine: Checks if all reference elements have the same rotational offset against the coordinate system of the pattern and if so, removes the offset and updates the internal seed transformation (the difference between the starting position and the actual transformation of the reference element).
• Auto-validation works even if the pattern elements are offset in different commands.
• All elements of a pattern should share a common offset for Auto validation to work.
