1. Click Modeling and then, in the Draw group, click Overdraw. The Overdraw dialog box opens.
2. Set the tracing options:
◦ Geom: Uses real geometry to find continuations of the contour.
◦ Cons: Uses construction geometry to find continuations of the contour.
◦ Inters: When checked, this option computes intersections between the edges. When unchecked, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling ignores these intersections and completes the overdraw operation more quickly.
3. Click the start position on an element. The 2D CoPilot helps you find an intersection point, a midpoint or a point at a specific distance from an end point of the element.
4. If there are more than one possible directions to create a profile, click a second element in the desired direction. The profile is highlighted. A blue highlighted point indicates the end of the profile.
5. If necessary, click on more elements to refine the selection.
6. If you click the wrong geometry element click Back in the Overdraw dialog box to return to the previous selection. You can also click the highlighted point at the end of the profile or press Z to return to the previous selection.
7. Click OK to complete the operation.
You can switch between Geometry and Construction modes while creating the profile by selecting either Geometry or Construction in the Overdraw dialog box.
