You can define a new type of sketch based on an existing sketch located on the current drawing. Once you have saved the sketch, it will appear in the Template Browser and you can load it into a drawing.
To define (save) a sketch,
1. Click Insert and then, in the Sketch group, click Define. The Sketch Template dialog box opens.
2. Click Sketch and select the base sketch to use as a template.
3. Enter a unique name in the Name box.
4. Select a category from the Category drop-down list or type a new category name.
5. Click the Thumbnail check box to create a small image of the sketch template.
6. Click the Annotation and 3D Docu check boxes to register the sketch in either module.
7. Specify the Angle and Margin for the thumbnail.
8. If needed, click Edit Thumbnail.
9. Click to complete the operation.
The sketch appears in the Template Browser and is saved as an MI file, equivalent to Creo Elements/Direct Drafting's file format.
Limitations
The following elements cannot be transferred to 3D Documentation:
• Splines and B-Splines
• Hatches
• Dimensions
• Symmetry Lines
• Centerlines
• Construction lines
• Points
Some elements' properties cannot be transferred to 3D Documentation:
• All elements are transferred with linesize = 0
• All texts are transferred with ratio = 1 and slant = 0
• All texts are transferred without frames
• All texts are transferred horizontically
If you confirm a warning message about untransferable data, the thumbnail will contain these data but the corresponding 3D symbol will not.
