Simplification overview
The Simplification module allows you to create simplified representations parts and assemblies. This is particularly useful when:
Your company wishes to maintain intellectual property rights by suppressing internal model details when sending designs to external sources (for example, subcontractors and equipment catalogs.
Improve system performance when working with simplified representations in large assemblies (for example, when generating digital mockups, making assembly layouts, performing clash tests).
Simplification includes the following functionality:
The original design is simplified to produce a simplified design. This can be a part or an assembly.
The original design is the master representation and following modification, the simplified part needs to be updated.
Designers responsible for a subassembly can create a simplified representation of the original.
If a detailed subassembly is not needed, it can be replaced by using Model Versioning (load as version and replace)
The most effective way of managing original and simplified parts is with Data Design Management.
Model features that have been removed (faces, slots and parts) can be viewed separately.
Large assemblies can be reduced to simple assemblies for layout purposes.
Complex parts can be simplified for fast redraw purposes but retain their shape.
Masses can be retained for assemblies.
In general, only elements that the system can detect (candidate features) are removed. Examples of element types, shapes, and features that are difficult to identify, and therefore simplify, are given in Simplification limitations.
To start the Simplification module,
1. Click File > Modules. The Modules dialog box opens.
2. In the Modules pane, click the Simplification check box.
The Simplification tab is added to the ribbon. All simplification commands can be found on this tab.
