You can create a custom or user-defined sheet feature from a collection of faces. Custom sheet features can consist of any number of faces but all faces must belong to the same sheet part.
Custom sheet features are especially useful when making detailed sheet part modifications. You can define a series of elements in a sheet part as a sheet feature and then apply operations to that sheet feature instead of repeatedly selecting the elements before starting each operation. By first defining the sheet features that you want to modify, you can considerably reduce the total number of steps required to complete the operations.
To attach a custom sheet feature,
1. Click Sheet Metal and then, in the Custom Sheet Feature group, click New. The Attach Sheet Metal Feature dialog box opens.
2. Select the face or faces to attach the sheet feature to.
3. Type a Name for the sheet feature.
4. Click Ref. Pos. and select a reference position for the sheet feature. This is optional.
5. Click to complete the operation.
To change a custom sheet feature,
1. Click Sheet Metal and then, in the Custom Sheet Feature group, click Modify.
2. Select the custom sheet feature which you want to change using one of the following methods:
◦ Select the custom sheet feature in the viewport.
◦ Use the Select dialog box to select a list of custom sheet features.
◦ Double-click the custom sheet feature in the Structure Browser.
3. Use the Select dialog box to add or remove elements from the custom sheet feature.
4. Click to complete the operation.
To remove a custom sheet feature,
1. Click Sheet Metal and then, in the Custom Sheet Feature group, click Delete.
2. Select the custom sheet feature or features that you want to remove using one of the following methods:
◦ Select the custom sheet feature in the viewport.
◦ Use the Select dialog box to select a list of custom sheet features.
◦ Double-click the custom sheet feature in the Structure Browser.
3. Click to complete the operation.
To rename a custom sheet feature,
1. Click Sheet Metal and then, in the Custom Sheet Feature group, click Rename.
2. Select the custom sheet feature which you want to rename using one of the following methods:
◦ Select the custom sheet feature in the viewport.
◦ Double-click the custom sheet feature in the Structure Browser.
3. Type a new name for the custom sheet feature in the user input line, enclosed in double quotes. For example, type "sheetfeature2".
New. The Attach Sheet Metal Feature dialog box opens.
