Align lip side faces
The Align Lip dialog box allows you to align lip edges to a reference face or to a symmetry plane in a sheet corner. You can optionally add an offset to the alignment planes or to another lip, specifying the gap between lips. This command can be used to ensure that the lip side face remains (or becomes) rectangular to the main sheet surface. (Note that lip side faces do not become non-rectangular after alignment.)
To align lip side faces,
1. Click Sheet Metal and then, in the Modify Sheet group, click the arrow next to Lip.
2. Click Align. The Align Lip dialog box opens.
3. Click an edge on a lip side face to be aligned to another face.
4. Select the face or plane to align the lip edge to:
Click Ref Face and click a reference face to which the lip edge is to be aligned. If required, type an Offset between the lip side face and the selected reference face.
Click Corn Edg and click two edges forming a corner on the base sheet. The bisection plane of the selected edges is taken as the reference plane to which the selected lip edge is aligned. (Hint: Use shift-left-mouse-button to select the list of two edges and close this list with shift-middle-mouse-button.) If required, type an Offset between the lip side face and the selected reference plane.
5. Select a type of corner constellation in the Other Lip box:
(The green area represents the lip to be aligned.) After you make a selection, the dialog box displays Oth Lip Face if there are multiple lips to align to. Click Oth Lip Face and specify the other lip face defining the corner constellation. If necessary, enter a different Gap Dist between the lips than that selected automatically, or enter an Offset from the farthest face of the other lip. Note that the feedback body does not show the true modified geometry; this is effected when you click .
6. Click to align the lip.
Aligning lip side faces is restricted to straight edges only.
