Length of the bend
The following figure illustrates the dependency of the bend length on the "neutral phase" or "neutral fiber" of the sheet. Note that the length of the bend area remains the same along the "neutral fiber" or "neutral phase". Refer to The K-Factor for further information.
The following definitions apply:
Ro = ri + T
Rn = ri + k*T
Rn = L/phi
Ri = L/phi - k*T
where:
L is the length of the bend area along the neutral phase,
T is the thickness of the material,
k is the K factor of the material,
Ri is the inner bend radius,
Rn is the bend radius along the neutral phase,
Ro is the outer bend radius,
Phi is the bend angle (in radians).
