1. Click Part Library and then, in the Catalog group, click the arrow next to More.
2. Click Administration > Modify Part. The Standard Parts dialog box opens.
3. Select the part. The Modify part dialog box opens.
4. Change the following information for your part:
◦ Part name: The name of the part. The name can only contain lower case letters, numbers, and underscores (_). This is displayed above the group icon in the library dialog.
◦ Part/Assy: The part or assembly you want to save.
◦ Parent group: The group where this part is stored.
◦ Icon: The icon displayed in the library dialog for this group. Must be a .pm, .bmp, .tif, or .gif image file. If you created an icon in the previous steps, you do not need to do anything with this field.
◦ Select a standard type: DIN, DIN-EN, ANSI, JIS, or Other.
◦ Usage as: The intended use of the template, as one of the following:
▪ Model template: If you store a part or an assembly as a model template, the part or the assembly can be modified. When you store a part or an assembly as a model template in the Creo Elements/DirectModel Manager, it is stored in the Model_3D class. When you load a model template in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, a shared version of the part or assembly is loaded.
▪ Library template: If you store a part or an assembly as a library template, the part or assembly cannot be modified. When you store a part or an assembly as a library template in Creo Elements/DirectModel Manager, it is stored in the Library_3D class. When you load a library template in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, a copy of the part or assembly is loaded.
▪ Raw material: If you load a raw material template in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, it is loaded as a new part.
▪ Original: If you store a part or an assembly as an original template, the part or assembly cannot be modified. When you store a part or an assembly as an original template in Creo Elements/DirectModel Manager, it is stored in the Library _3D class. If you load an original template in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, the original model is loaded.
By default, Original template is hidden. The Original template is available only if you modify a part that was created using the Original template in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 18.1 or earlier version. A model saved with the Original template can create two elements with the same SYSID in the Model Manager:
