Add a library part or assembly
You can store a part or an assembly as a template either in the file system or in the Creo Elements/DirectModel Manager. You can load these templates in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling and assign attributes as required.
To store a part or an assembly as a template,
1. Click Part Library and then, in the Catalog group, click the arrow next to More.
2. Click Administration > Create Part. The Create part dialog box opens.
3. Set the following properties for the template:
Part name: The name of the template.
Menutext: This is displayed as the title of the part.
Part/Assy: The part or assembly which you want to store as a template. You can specify the part or the assembly either by selecting it from the Creo Elements/Direct Structure Browser or from the viewport.
Parent group: The group in which you wish to store the template. To create a new group, see Creo Elements/Direct Part Library administration.
Icon: The image used to represent the template. The icon is automatically created, or you can browse to select a BMP, TIF, or GIF image file.
Select a standard type: DIN, DIN-EN, ANSI, JIS, or Other.
Usage as: The intended use of the template, as one of the following:
Model template: If you store a part or an assembly as a model template, the part or the assembly can be modified. When you store a part or an assembly as a model template in the Creo Elements/DirectModel Manager, it is stored in the Model_3D class. When you load a model template in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, a shared version of the part or assembly is loaded.

If you delete a part or an assembly which is stored as a model template, the part is not completely deleted. You can store a new part using the same name. However, when you load the newly-stored part, the previously-deleted part, which has the same name, opens.
To completely delete the part, you must manually delete it from %AppData%\PTC\Creo Elements Direct Modeling <release>\<release>\PartLibrary\parts_win\models.
Library template: If you store a part or an assembly as a library template, the part or assembly cannot be modified. When you store a part or an assembly as a library template in Creo Elements/DirectModel Manager, it is stored in the Library_3D class. When you load a library template in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, a copy of the part or assembly is loaded.

If you delete a part or an assembly which is stored as a library template, the part is not completely deleted. If you store a new part using the same name, a warning appears.
To completely delete the part, you must manually delete it from %AppData%\PTC\Creo Elements Direct Modeling <release>\<release>\PartLibrary\parts_win\models.
Raw material: If you load a raw material template in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, it is loaded as a new part.
4. Table: The table that contains information about the part template. This includes two options:
Import: To import the information of an existing similar part template.
Modify: To modify the information. You can add columns or modify column dimensions.

The information in the Table should not be modified.
5. Click CreatePart to create the template.
