Control sharp edges and side faces
Click Mold Design and then in the Analysis group, click the arrow next to Wall Thickness.
Click 3D. The Wall Thickness 3D dialog box opens.
Detect side helps to correctly colorize and display sharp edges and side faces in your analysis results. By default, Detect Side is checked in the Wall Thickness 3D menu.
Without Detect side, sharp edges and side faces that should fall within the tolerance limits of the analysis may appear as problem regions, because the wall thickness of a sharp edge will be 0 in the facet model used for computation.
In this example, the side wall thickness is 5 mm. The images display the results of an analysis with minimum tolerance=3 and maximum tolerance=6. With Detect side selected, the side walls are green, correctly indicating that they fall within the tolerance limits.
With Detect side cleared, the side walls are blue, indicating that they are too thin, even though they are actually within the tolerance limits.

With some models, you may want to clear Detect side. For example, if you are analyzing walls with small details or patterns inside, Detect side may not accurately reflect your internal geometry.
