Create a user-defined plastic feature
It is also possible to create plastic features that have been defined for your company's work environment. In general, a tool part (face part or solid part) is loaded into Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, and specified faces of it are pasted onto the mold part. A customized plastic feature must first be registered in a customization file found in the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling installation directory:
.../personality/sd_customize_x/MoldDesignAdvisor/md_customize
where x is your Creo Elements/Direct Modeling version number.
The general process to create a user-defined plastic feature on a part is as follows:
1. Click Mold Feature and then, in the Plastic Feature group, click Create. The Plastic Feature Browser opens.
2. If necessary, expand the categories in the Plastic Feature browser (such as User Geometry) to locate the feature (click the plus signs).
3. Double-click the desired plastic feature in the browser.
4. Click the reference face on the mold part to which the plastic feature is to be attached.
5. Click Set Tool. The Tool Part window opens, and a viewport appears displaying the tool part.
6. If the tool part is a solid part, click a face on it that is to grow onto the mold part. This is, you must specify the Open Faces that can be pasted. This step is unnecessary when the tool part is a face part.
7. Position the tool part over the mold part using the part Position options.
8. Click Accept when you have positioned the tool part, or Cancel to abandon positioning.
9. Click OK to paste the tool part onto the mold part.
